Overview

Rossburgh was founded durring the early 13th century in winter of the year 1205, by Shegëm Tidwell. The establishment of Rossburgh was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Shegëm Tidwell electing to pay people to resettle in Rossburgh.

Rossburgh was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Rossburgh is no diffrent. The village's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Rossburgh is is constructed arround a series of spacious gravel mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The village emploies a series of defencive earthworks, spikes, and fences to provide some protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. Rossburgh's minimaly adiquite are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the village as needed.

A look around Rossburgh makes it abundantly clear the village suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had. Everyone quietly goes about their daily business not looking anyone in the eye.

Cultural Notes

Rossburgh's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is short in Rossburgh.

The Dinosaur, Ceratosaurus near Rossburgh are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Rossburgh's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves square dance to channel Illusion energies of tier 3 via recitation of scripture.

Points of Interest

Rossburgh is reliant on an industry or product that has toxic or negative side-effects as part of its production. The good is extremely valuable, or the community is extremely desperate, and the side effects are endured as a necessary evil. It may be that their neighbors or lord are forcing them to produce the good so that they aren’t the ones suffering the cost.
